1. Desktop Orientation:
In addition to the items highlighted in the image above, make sure that you can identify the Wireless Airport icon or picture and tell what it's function or job is: Also, be able to identify and tell why this symbol is important: .
2. Three Ways to Quit an Application:
a. Command-Q
b. Click on the NAME of the Application that displays next to the Black Apple (top left of Menu Bar) and go all the way to the bottom to find Quit application name.
c. Hold down your mouse on the name of the application ON THE DOCK that you want to Quit, and you will get an option to Quit that application.
Please pay attention to the difference between 'closing a window' of an application and QUITTING that application. For example, if I have Word open and close the window displaying a document (clicking on the red button in the top left corner), I HAVE NOT Quit Word. I have just closed the open window.

This screencast demonstrates how to create a 'graphic' that can be used in a Wiki page, Word Document, PowerPoint or any application, by learning how to 'GROUP' images, text boxes and shapes. 'Preview' is then used to create a picture or screenshot of our finished product. This image can then be added to Word Documents, PowerPoints, Wiki pages, Notebook files....anything!

5. Fun Stuff - Know your MacBook:
a) Stickies (DIGITAL post-it notes to let you take notes or create reminders) Use the Spotlight to search for 'Stickies'
b) Dictionary (Type 'Dictionary' into the Spotlight or enter a word that you want defined and ....BAM, there it is....)
c) Preview - allows you to take digital 'snapshots' (screenshots) of stuff on your screen - then you can save it as a jpg.
